Formula E drivers vs gamers in Las Vegas

This January gamers can compete againt Formula E racing drivers during the “ePrix” in Las Vegas, with $250K reward for the winner and a total prize money of $1 million!

People can qualify for the Vegas eRace via the Road to Vegas Challenge, organized by Cloud Sport. The ten best gamers will be joined by the 20 regular Formula E drivers for the virtual race on a specially designed track that will incorporate the famed Las Vegas Strip. The event will be held at the Mandalay Bay Hotel as part of a the Consumer Electronics Show (January 5-7).

Like the eRacing competition during Formula E events, the gamers and drivers will of course be racing with Playseat® simulators!

Alejandro Agag, chief executive of the electric racing series said: “We believe eSports offers a new level of fan interaction and participation in sport and we want to be at the forefront of this gaming revolution.”

Many sports, including Formula One which raced in Las Vegas in the 1980s, are experimenting with virtual reality (VR) technology to engage fans and attract new audiences. Formula E has also mooted the possibility of a virtual race eventually being incorporated in the championship with gamers challenging for points and prize money.
